Mood disorders are disorders characterized by emotional extremes that are grouped in one of two main forms

Major Depressive Disorder (1)

When at least five indicators of depression linger for two weeks or longer, it's called Major Depressive Disorder.

Symptoms include:

There is dramatic weight loss or gain, as well as a significant decrease or rise in hunger

Lack of energy

Feelings irritation and agitation

Treatments include:

Medications such as SSRI’s

Psychotherapy

Hospitalization

Bipolar Disorder

A mental disorder characterized by an excited manic state to feeling lethargic and depressed

Symptoms include:

Feeling irritable

Lack of energy

Manic episodes-very excitable, energetic mood

Depressive episodes-hopelessness, lethargy,

Sleeping issues-difficulty falling or staying asleep

Treatments include:

Medications such as anti-depressants

Psychotherapy

Hospitalization
